My work has usually had a horizon line in it. Spent much time in the family car as kid driving around country towns gazing out the window. Soaking up the country, taking in the magnificence of this land and always loved seeing the horizon. A metaphor perhaps, for believing in and having a future whereby we don’t destroy this country entirely in my lifetime.
I am interested in exploring texture within the picture plane, enjoying ambiguity as well as the complexity that chance may bring to my work. Order, colour and unpredictability are also components of my painting practice. Repetition and intuition play a role in providing opportunities to explore further without relying on composition alone.
