The Seven Valleys Festival of BIG Ideas will enable the Lithgow community to engage with the big ideas that are shaping their future as this region transitions away from its traditional coal-based economy to a new set of opportunities. How will eco-cultural tourism, the creative industries, and innovative circular economy businesses shape our children’s future, once the coal economy disappears?

Two Keynote Talks

The Three Pillars of Regenesis, by Barbara Lepani, will draw on her new book, ‘The Regenesis Journey’, which will be launched with copies of the book for sale at the event.
Baran Nalgarra: Strength & Learning Through Togetherness, by Lynn Daniel, will outline Kindlehill School’s new curriculum for its senior students, based on undertaking projects-in-community that focus on ‘problems that matter’, working with a wide range of organisations.

Poetry Slam: “My truth to power about our future.”

Poetry slam spoken word performances from students from Lithgow High School, La Salle Academy and Kindlehill School

Panel Discussion— Shaping the Future of the Seven Valleys

Tracey Callinan, CEO of Regional Arts NSW on the role of the creative industries
Michell Zeibots, UTS, on circular economy initiatives
Trevor Evans of Secret Creek Sanctuary on eco-tourism.
This will be followed by Q&A with the audience.
